Countries Problem

Country music is a widely varied genre with many great old and new artists. There are many timeless songs from the 70s-90s that will go down as some of the best songs I know but I have one main problem with how country is developing. That thing would be modernized country. Genres don’t quite have to have set boundaries for what they encompass or what is considered what but with country i believe the line has been crossed.

Newer country music is slowly turning from its roots to a mainstream focused, pop sounding country. Don’t get me wrong a lot of this music is very good and very catchy but it’s falsely advertised on the top charts of original “country music”. All music has its place and the more diversity that we have, the better experiences and cultural diversity we can divulge in. Some of these new county aimed singers though are forgetting the roots of guitar, twang, and sound in country and substituting it with a complete pop sound with lyrics merely mentioning things like “trucks” and “guns” and “beer”. Don’t get me wrong this still is no problem but when it’s stuck on the headlines of top country, it undermines the individuals that stick to originality of country and stay to the roots. All genres have these “posers” amongst them and trying to change them is the opposite of what we want. All genres have a term and should be applied under those terms.

I know it’s not quite the worst problem in the music industry but it bugs me when people claim they’re something there not and that often happens with people that claim they are country fanatics when in reality they only listen to Morgan Wallen. Yet again it’s completely a personal problem, but just either know your info if your gonna put yourself in discussions or arguments, or stay quiet.
